Many times, we as believers, find ourselves in a place where we are desperate to hear what God has to say to us. It can be a very quiet place that is still and so unpredictable, and if we are not accustomed to such stillness, we are tempted to become frustrated and uneasy.
When we are in the valley of decision, it is a season of waiting. We must wait for whatever answer the Lord will give to us that will eventually serve as our road-map. Along the journey of life, we find that there are often many signs along the way, and if we are not careful to read and understand them well, we may end up at a dead-end. Hence, it is important that we allow the Lord to lead us and guide us along life's journey. Psalm 119:105 (AKJV) states, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go:
I will guide thee with mine eye." Along the way there are times when we must stop, pause, slow down or we are told to go right along. Other times we are told to take the left or the right, oftentimes, there are signs that may say; there's a detour up ahead, keep left and pass right, other times you might see, no thorough road and the list goes on. Today I do not wish to address them all, but just one.
THE STOP SIGN!
When a driver approaches a stop sign, he or she is expected to come to a complete stop, giving priority to oncoming vehicles. He or she must only move forward when the way is clear and when safe to do so. It exists as a means of controlling traffic at a busy or blind intersection, it helps to prevent crashes and also keeps walkers and bikers safe.
Just as in the natural, stop signs are in the spiritual. Hence, at times on our christian's journey, we must make certain stops when necessary. We make stops when we are uncertain of which way to go, when we need to know what to do, when we need understanding and insight.
Sometimes the Lord will pull us away in seasons where it matters most, and cause us to come to a complete stop, so that He has our full attention. He desires for us to stop and do a reflection on where He has taken us from, understand some of the things that He has taught us, showed us or has spoken into our spirit that we may have forgotten about. He wants us to pay close attention to what we have learnt and also understand what next, and what He has in-store for us before we move forward again.
Many times if we are honest, we can attest to the fact that, when we are in a traffic jam and the red light appears indicating that everyone ought to come to a complete stop, sometimes there are persons who get agitated because they want to continue on their journey. Others might even hurl expletives and others may even break the traffic light especially ,if no one is before them and they are in a hurry, only to find out that they end up being caught by the police or they met in an accident.
As we become mature in our different seasons, phases, relationships, spiritual walk etc., we must understand that at some point in time, the sign that says STOP is important and should not be taken for granted. If you are reading this today, tomorrow or some time in the future, I will not take it by chance or mere coincidence. I believe God is speaking to you.
God wants me to tell you, that although you are in your valley of decision, not sure which way to go, unsure of whether to turn back or continue ahead, wondering what will happen if you make that call, wondering If stepping out of your comfort zone to say yes to that contract or new business deal, wondering if you will succeed if you take up ministry full-time, contemplating if you should pursue your long lost passion, contemplating if you should just make that investment that have you thinking, wondering if you should say yes or no to that proposal etc..... God is not through with you yet! It is time to press into the presence of the Lord. Let worship take you in and when you are done, just listen! Don't be in a rush to ask Him for anything. Just listen! He will instruct you this time around. He will cause you to understand if it's now or later. He won't leave you hanging, but you must LISTEN! Psalm 32:8 (AKJV) assures us, "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."
Isaiah 30:21 (AKJV) declares, "and thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left."
The Lord wants to free your mind and release your heart. He is calling you to a one-on-one session. Don't let it miss you or pass you by. This one is life-changing!
I know that life has been throwing you a lot of lemons. You have been coming up on a lot of speed bumps and it has been a very bumpy ride, but stay the course! You have even given in to the enemy telling you to just commit suicide and "be out", so you don't have to face this anymore. I know some of you reading this have even tried it, but God blocked it! He blocked it because purpose is on you and it ain't your season to be OUT yet! Sickness might be rocking your body and you have been experiencing attacks upon attacks, one after the other, but rest assured that you are getting ready to plummet into one of the biggest breakthroughs and blessings that you have never seen before. God is getting ready to show up big in your life that you will have to say, "Is this really ME?"
Don't worry, continue gaining wisdom and experience, because this is exactly what your suffering is about! There's a much bigger and better place that's calling you. It's time to get ready! Dust yourself off because you are coming out smelling and looking like glory and victory! It's not the end yet! It's just the beginning.
Psalm 27:13-14 (TLB) declares, " I am expecting the Lord to rescue me again, so that once again I will see his goodness to me here in the land of the living. Don’t be impatient. Wait for the Lord, and he will come and save you! Be brave, stouthearted, and courageous. Yes, wait and he will help you."
Psalm 130:5 (AKJV) says, I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait,
and in his word do I hope.
